Obituary for Joella Wester (Devlin)

Joella D. Wester, 86, of Southlake, passed away unexpectedly on May 30, 2021. Joella was born on July 23, 1934 to Calvin and Daisy Devlin in Cunningham, TX. After graduating from Deport H.S at age 16 she went on to receive a BS in Education and MBS in Education at Paris Junior College where she was the Football Sweatheart and East Texas State University (Texas A&M Commerce) at the age of 22 in 1956. Later she worked on her PhD at the University of North Texas.
She met Dwayne Wester at East Texas State University, and they wed in 1956, going on to have one son, Jay.
Joella taught school part time and had her real estate broker’s license for almost 35 years. She attended the Plymouth Park Baptist Church and was active in the adult singles Sunday school class. She loved to play bridge with her friends and travel on cruises. She loved her family. We will miss her greatly.
Joella was predeceased by Dwayne Wester (husband), Calvin Devlin (father), Daisy Devlin(mother). She is survived by Jay Wester (son), Melinda Wester (daughter-in-law), Danielle Clowers (granddaughter), Charlee & Madelyn (great granddaughters), Haley Wester (granddaughter), Jan Trussell (sister), Richard Trussell (brother-in-law), Lauren Trussell (niece) and Nathan Trussell (nephew).
The family requests that any donations be sent to the American Cancer Society. There will be a graveside service at the DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211 on 6/21/21 at 11 am 15 minutes prior to the service, friends and family attending, will begin the processional line up at the cemetery in Lane 1.
