John Tilley passed away peacefully on December 1, 2021 in Irving, TX. He was born in Smead, AR to his parents Roy and Rebecca Tilley on January 8, 1938. At the young age of 18, he worked for Lone Star Industries which later became Hanson in Grand Prairie, TX, where he retired after 48 devoted years in 2004. John was a fan of all sports and in his youth was an avid baseball player. He went on to become a avid golf player and outdoorsman. John loved his church, First United Methodist of Irving, and was a very active member. He enjoyed volunteering where needed in the church, especially working with the Wednesday Work Crew, passing out lunches to the homeless in Irving, and being apart of the Pathfinders Sunday School. When John wasn’t helping out at church, he would volunteer at Irving Cares.

John is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Carel Tilley; siblings, Lillian Curtis, Raymond Tilley, Arliss Tilley, 1 set of Twins Tilley, Noralene Beeson, Mary Sue Tilley, Faye Beeson, and Roy Tilley Jr. John is survived by his children, Neal Hightower and wife Angie, Colene Hightower, Mark Tilley and wife Patrice; brother, Nelson Tilley; grandchildren, Jennifer Martin, Lena Chapman, Chad Manning, Tiffany Dorris, Danielle Ybarra, and Cadie Hightower; 12 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

Family will receive friends on Monday, December 6, 2021 from Noon to 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church located at 211 W Third Street, Irving, TX 75060. Services will be held on Monday, December 6, 2021 at 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church located at 211 W. Third Street, Irving, TX 75060. Burial will be held after service at Oak Grove Memorial Garden’s located at 1413 E. Irving Blvd., Irving, TX 75060 in the Garden of Devotion.
