Obituary for Karl Mullins

Karl Dean Mullins celebrated his Heavenly birthday on February 14th, 2023, following a
short illness in Dallas, Texas. Karl was born on February 9th, 1937, in Phoenix, Arizona
to K. Dean Mullins and Bess Mullins. Karl attended Arizona State College in Flagstaff
for three years where he met his soulmate and wife, Dorothy Jensen. The two briefly
moved to Oregon where Karl obtained his Engineering degree from the University of
Oregon. After relocating to Irving, Texas to pursue a career at Texas Instruments, Karl
went on to complete his master’s degree at the University of Dallas. Here, Karl and his
wife settled down and raised their beautiful family.

Karl attended and served as a Sunday School teacher, Bible Study leader, and member
of the Wednesday Work Crew, Kum Doubles class, and Emergency Response Team at
First United Methodist Church in Irving.

Karl was an avid outdoors man. He had a deep passion and found true joy in the
wilderness while hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping. He was a proud American,
Patriot who served the Dallas Sheriff’s office as a Reserve Sheriff’s Deputy for 20 years.
Karl loved a good glass of Merlot and always found a stranger to share it with.
Karl fiercely loved his two daughters, four grandchildren and their growing families.

Karl is survived by his daughters; Deborah Laza (Randall) of Dallas and Kimberly Harsh
of Palmyra Ohio, his twin brother Kenneth Mullins (Rhona) of Phoenix, sister Earline
Arnold of Monterey California, sister Virginia Mullins (Peter Madine) of Phoenix, his
grandchildren Mason, Colton, and Emily Harsh and Matthew Laza, and his three
great-grandchildren. Karl is survived by many loving nieces and nephews, friends, and
his cat Jingles.

Karl was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy.

A donation in Karl’s name may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Irving,

A celebration of life service for Karl will be held Saturday, February 18th at 11:30am at
First United Methodist Church in Irving.

It is fitting that Karl would leave this life on Valentine’s Day for he had a large and loving
heart for everyone in his life.
