Obituary for Lavinia "Bena" Harrison

Lavinia “Bena” Harrison was welcomed Home into the arms of her Lord and Savior on July 13, 2022, at the age of seventy-one. She was born in Dallas, Texas on August 2, 1950, to parents Homer and Imogene Pope. Lavinia a long-time resident of Irving, Texas graduated from Irving High School in 1968. She was a dedicated and faithful member of Grace Pointe Church in Irving, Texas for the last 25 years. Lavinia had a loving and flirtatious way about her, and you could count on her never going anywhere without her “face” on or her glitz. She was a self-taught, amazingly talented, musician supreme, especially on the piano. She could hear, play, and sing every part and harmony of any song; and there was not a note or key she did not know or could not perform. She was the biggest Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers fan. Her amazing banana pudding and Christmas candy will be forever missed. Above all Lavinia will be remembered as loving and dearest grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend to anyone. She lived for her two granddaughters, and her four great grandchildren.

Lavinia is met in heaven by her father, Homer Dale Pope; mother, Imogene Williams; sister, Zona Franklin; brother, Larry Pope; and brother, Daryl Pope. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Michelle Sykes; granddaughter, Lauren Shelley; granddaughter, Shelby Forster and husband Chaz; great grandchildren: Bailey Shelley, Camden Forster, Berkley Shelley, and Ella Forster; sister, Dolores White; sister, Marlyn Nemec, the best lifelong friend anyone could ask for Janice Wagner; as well as a host of other friends, cousins, nieces, nephews, and family who will miss Lavinia dearly.
