Obituary for Mitzi Ann Woy

Mitzi Ann Woy, loving wife, passionate mother, dedicated grandmother and great grandmother, devoted sister and friend, left this world and departed to Heaven on December 6, 2021, at age 85. Mitzi was born to Mary and Steve Eletich on December 3, 1936, in Akron, Ohio. It was there she met her husband to be, William “Bucky” Woy, and raised their three children: Michele, Jordan and Brad, until relocating to Irving, Texas, in 1975.

Always displaying a servant’s heart, family meant everything to her. Nothing made her happier than having her kids and extended family at her home. She loved every minute of doting on them, especially during holidays. Her home and kitchen were always the central hub for friends and family alike. She was a selfless mother dedicated to her children and their friends. Always participating in school activities, tirelessly chauffeuring them to school, practices, and sporting events, her family always came first, and it was her greatest joy. She truly lived by the adage, “The greatest work you’ll ever do will be within the walls of your own home.”

Mitzi also loved traveling. Few things could make her smile like reminiscing about family trips to Hawaii, Europe, and Mexico. However, her favorite memories were made on family fishing trips to Port Aransas, Texas, where the family vacationed every summer for nearly 30 years.

A devoted Christian, she and Bucky were fixtures on the back row of Irving Bible Church for almost three decades. During this time she also taught thousands of kids at Sunday School, and attended women’s Bible studies with ladies from IBC that became beloved friends.

Mitzi was a fearless competitor who loved to play tennis and golf. She and Bucky were members of Las Colinas Country Club for more than 40 years where Mitzi made many lifelong friends while playing golf and tennis on her TCD team “The Alley Cats.”

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Bucky. She is survived by her daughter Michele Jones and spouse Jess; granddaughter Alex DeLay and spouse Lucky Jr; great granddaughter Riley Buck DeLay and great grandson Lucky DeLay III; her son Jordan Woy and granddaughters Christy and Sydney Woy; her son Brad Woy and spouse Crystal; grandson Hayden and granddaughters Harper and Hattie Woy; her sister Dotty Carroll; brothers Jimmy and Danny Eletich; and many nieces and nephews.

A service honoring her life will be held at Bear Creek Cemetery in Euless, Texas, on Monday, December 13, 2021, beginning at 10:30 AM.
