Obituary for Patricia Ann Cook

 

Patricia Ann Cook was called home to be with the lord on March 16, 2023 at the age of 89.

She is preceded in death by her parents Douglas and Gladys Gregory, husband Jim Cook, daughter Taffy Cook and siblings Aubrey, Clara, Douglas, Murle, and Ricky. She is survived by brothers Jerry and Walter.

She leaves behind sons Johnny Ray (Anitra), Richard, Phillip Lee (Judy), Gary (Pam), and Sam (Cecilia). She will be missed by her grandchildren: Kristi Dawn, Jonelle, Jessica, Dewey; William (Miranda), Jeff, Tricia, Michelle, Joe (Paige), and Morgan; Tiffany (Jeff), Daisy (Frank), and Deborah; Chodey (Chris), Staci (Colt); Isabel and Noah. Great grandchildren: Russell, Gracie; Jett, Kasen; Nannette; Courtney, Brooklyn, Emma; Maverick, Maggie; Philicia, William (Bubba), Daylan; Mia, Ryan, Romi; Jade, Jett; Finley, Axel, Beckett; Amalia; Christian, Alyza; Alexis, Colton, Everlee  and Scott. Great-great grandchildren: Easton, Eli, and one on the way; Jediah, William (Skeeter), and Sparrow.

She was born in Hillsboro, Texas. She relocated to Irving in 1978 from Houston with her husband Jim. She worked for McDonald’s in Irving from 1980 until 1995. She was a Store Activity Representative, helping with birthday parties and organizing events. In 1995, she opened her own business, Clothes Quarters in downtown Irving. She finally retired and closed her store down in 2022.

Pat was well known in the Irving community. She was a member of and / or participated in the: Irving Special Activities Advisory Council ISACC, Irving Heritage Society, Irving Downtown Association, Irving Heritage Festival Steering Committee, Preservation and Redevelopment Board and Irving Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of Oakview Baptist Church since 1978. “She worked numerous volunteer hours dedicated to helping with coordinating park Citywide July 4th parade activities, Easter egg hunts, One Act Play, Martin Luther King Jr. Observance, and the Christmas parade. She served as Ms. Claus with her husband Jim Cook, Mr. Claus.” She was instrumental in starting the Irving Easter Egg hunt, 4th of July parade and Annual Christmas parade. She collected clothes, jewelry, and mementos from her children. She had an extensive collection of Mr. and Ms. Claus dolls. Her living room was surrounded with family photos. She was an avid Texas Rangers Fan. She was the matriarch of the family and was loved by many.

Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon her. May the soul of the faithful departed through the mercy of God. Rest in peace. Amen.

A visitation will be held at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home Chapel: 707 N. Irving, Texas 75061 on Monday, March 27, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM.

A service will be held at Oak View Baptist Church: 1004 South Story Road, Irving, Texas 75060 starting at 12:00 PM.

Final resting place: Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery located at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas Texas 75211.
