Obituary for Priscilla Buttner Breck

Priscilla Jane Buttner Breck, formerly of Newbury, NH and Weston, MA died peacefully at the age of 98.  She was born on October 17, 1924 in Springfield, Mass. 

She was the beloved wife of Robert Gifford Breck Jr. and leaves her daughter Judith Breck Mason and husband John of Irving, TX and her son, James Gifford Breck and his wife Susan of Savannah, GA.  She leaves two grandchildren: Morgan Breck Wibergh and her husband Felix and Reid Gifford Breck and his fiancé, Jack Sheehan and two great-grandchildren, Magnus Huntington Wibergh and Annika James Wibergh. She was predeceased by her father and mother, Edward and Grace Buttner and her brother Edwin Buttner and sister Ruth Buttner Benedict.

Priscilla, “Buttons”, grew up in Plymouth, Mass and spent several winters in St Petersburg, Florida. She attended Plymouth Carver High School, Mass. and St. Petersburg High School, Florida and spent her senior year at Walnut Hill School, Natick, Mass. After graduating high school, she attending Syracuse University with the class of ’46 and was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority.

After graduating from college, Priscilla moved to Boston and was working in the personnel office at MIT where she met her future husband and love of her life, Bob Breck, at a water fountain on campus. They were married on June 19th, 1948 in Plymouth, Massachusetts.

They lived in Hancock Village in Boston and then moved to Weston, Mass where they lived for 40 years. Priscilla was active in the Weston “Friendly” Society and had a lifelong passion for golf, tennis, skiing, swimming, travel, bridge and social activities with family and friends.

Priscilla and Bob moved permanently to their vacation residence in Newbury, NH in ’95, overlooking Lake Sunapee. They were active members of the Lake Sunapee Country Club and she and Bob always enjoyed golf, bridge and social events there. Priscilla will always be remembered for her zest for life, positive attitude, caring and giving personality as well as being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and lifelong friend to so many.
