Raymond Johnson, age 88, died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, October 13, 2019. He was born in Kerrville, Texas to George and Fannie Mae (Furlow) Johnson on Thursday, January 29, 1931. Raymond worked in management in the food distribution industry, until his retirement from Sysco Foods Inc. in 1998. He was an active member of Christ Church in Irving, faithfully serving at all locations from Northgate to Delaware St. to S. MacArthur Blvd and the most recent on Airport Freeway in Irving. Raymond enjoyed his position as a door greeter for the church and was loved and adored by the congregation he welcomed. In his down time, Raymond could be found playing golf, but his most precious and love filled times were when he was spending time with his grandchildren. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, and will be deeply missed. Raymond is preceded in death by his parents George and Fannie Johnson, brother Billy Johnson, brother George W. Johnson and sister Hazel Hughes. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 69 years, Vera Johnson; son Kenneth Johnson and wife Melissa; daughter Paula Cannon and husband Bob; son Scott Johnson and wife Chantal; son Jim Johnson and wife Racheal; brother Preston Johnson; sister Betty Jones; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandsons along with numerous extended family and friends. The family is to receive friends between 9:00 and 10:00am, Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 N. MacArthur Blvd in Irving, with a funeral service to begin at 10:00am. Interment will be at Hillcrest Garden of Memory, 3838 TX-22 in Hillsboro at 1:00pm, Thursday, October 17, 2019.
