Obituary for Richard Milton Hanke Jr.

Richard Milton Hanke Jr. passed away peacefully with friends and family by his side on September 13, 2023, in Irving Texas at the age of 82. He was born May 3, 1941, in Cairo, Illinois to father, Richard Hanke, Sr. and mother, Doris Irene Wilson. Richard joined the United States Army where he proudly served his country as a sharpshooter earning him the Sharpshooter Award. He fought in the Korean war and was Honorable discharged in November 1969. Richard loved fishing, cooking especially Barbeque, and traveling. In his spare time Richard enjoyed bowling and was in many bowling leagues and was also in a square-dancing group. Above all Richard loved his family and all the times he was blessed to spend with them.

Richard is preceded in death by his father, Richard Hanke, Sr.; mother, Doris Irene Wilson; grandson, John David Collier IV: sister, Sandra Crotzer, and husband Ron; stepfather, James Chancellor. Left to cherish his memory is his son, John David Collier III and wife Carol; son, Rodney Earl Collier and wife Maria; brother, David Hanke; brother, Mark Chancellor and wife Dona; many nieces and nephews; stepbrothers: Rick Chancellor and Terry Chancellor; eight grandchildren: Mary, Jason, Leigh, Joseph, Samuel, Alicia, and Clarissa; six great grandchildren: Zachary, Brandon, Collin, Madelyn, Kingston, and Ariana; three great great grandchildren: Levi, Ryan, and Olive; as well as numerous other family and friends who will miss Richard dearly.
