Obituary for Robert "Van" McGee

Robert “Van” McGee, a lifelong resident of Irving, Texas for 50 years, passed away on February 26, 2022, at the age of seventy-seven. He was born on September 20, 1944, in Port Arthur, Texas to mother, Ileene Denning McGee, and father, Robert Eugene McGee. Van proudly service in the United States Army from 1968 thru 1972. During his time in the Army Van worked in the Army Security Agency stationed in Augsburg, Germany. He married the love of his life Maureen Hamilton and spent fifty-two wonderful years building a family and life with Maureen. After his career in the Army Van went on to become a math teacher. Van taught for the Irving Independent School District for 30 years then went on to become a professor for Northlake College for 16 years. Van had many talents some of which included his accomplishments in becoming a 5-degree black belt in Jujitsu and for his talents as a magician.

Van is preceded in death by his father, Robert McGee; mother, Ileene McGee; and brother, Jim McGee. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Maureen McGee; son, Glenn McGee; son, Brian McGee and wife Jeana; grandchildren: Eamon Keefer - McGee, Elijah Keefer - McGee, and Elliot Keefer - McGee; brother-in-law, Leslie Hamilton; brother-in-law, Craig Hamilton and wife Linda; brother-in-law, Walter Hamilton and wife Dianna; devoted friends, Werner Higginbotham and wife Wendy; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as many, many loving friends who will all miss Van dearly.
