Obituary for Ron Craig

Ronald Andrew Craig passed away into the arms of his Lord and Savior on January 19, 2022. He was born on August 17, 1953 in Springhill, LA to Carlene Cheatham Halstead and John Eldridge Craig, Sr. He grew up in Louisiana and loved the LSU Tigers. He married the love of his life Judy Graham on June 17, 1971 and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last year. Ron framed and built houses for many years in the metroplex and has worked for the last 10 years with his son, Colby, with his home building business.
Ron was a very loving husband, son, proud dad, proud Poppaw, brother, uncle, and cousin. He loved his family dearly and deeply.

He is preceded in death by his father, stepfather, and his mentor father-in-law, John Graham. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Judy, sons Jacob (Becky) and Colby (Danielle), grandchildren Jackson, Wyatt, Austin, Madison, Chloe, and Cash, mother Carlene, brother Johnny, sisters-in-law Donna Lucas (Gene) and Brenda Ratcliff, nieces and nephews Shannon Morgan (Bud), Liz Lawson (Chris), John Craig (Heather), Chris Ratcliff (Christy), Robyn Garcia (JR), Andrea Gordon (Garhett), Matt Lucas (Nichole), Becca Liendo (Andres), and many great nieces and nephews.

Ron loved having the family over for Sunday dinners and could smoke a brisket, ribs or turkey that rivaled any restaurant. He loved going to the grandkids sporting events, dance recitals and school programs, picking them up from school when needed or be a fill in babysitter. His grandkids LOVED to see Poppaw because he usually had candy, donuts, or for sure a Dr. Pepper…sometimes all three! He was a very devoted son to his mother and checked on her at least twice a day until she was recently moved into a nursing care facility.

A service honoring his life will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 1pm at Ben F. Brown’s Funeral Home with a brief visitation starting at noon. After the service, there will be a graveside prayer followed by interment.
