Obituary for Wanda Lou "Gan" Hartness (Wood)

Wanda Lou Hartness, age 91, died on Wednesday, October 30, 2019. Wanda was born on August 1, 1928 in Electra, Texas to Joe Wood and Edna (McBroom) Wood. Wanda, affectionately known as “Gan” was a strong, sweet, genuine woman of faith who could throw a guilt trip with wonderful accuracy. Dolls, Mickey Mouse, and her grandchildren were some of her greatest passions. She put up with her boys Larry and Garry “by default”. Gan was married to the love of her life, J.T. Hartness for sixty-five years and is now reunited with him in glory. She was certainly faithful in her walk with the Lord and as a committed church member at MacArthur Blvd. Baptist Church for fifty-five years. Gan was a very simple lady but a powerful instrument of God’s righteousness to so many. She will be dearly missed by those who were blessed to know her. Gan is preceded in death by her parents Joe and Edna Wood; husband J.T. Hartness; brother Bobbie Wood; granddaughter Alissa Hartness; great granddaughter Michelle Hartness; great grandson Bodhi Mohr. Left to cherish her memory are sons Larry Hartness and Garry Hartness; granddaughters Shana Mohr and husband Josh, Dana Hartness, Kayla Hartness; great grandchildren Jack Parshall and Trinity Mohr; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and loving friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday, November 4, 2019 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 North MacArthur Blvd., Irving, TX 75061. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, November 5, 2019 also at the funeral home with an interment immediately following at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 1413 E. Irving Blvd., Irving, TX 75060.
