Obituary for William Edward Campbell Jr.
William E. “Bill” Campbell, Jr. age 67 of Irving, Texas, passed away suddenly, May 11, 2020 of unexpected heart complications. He was born February 8, 1953 to father, William E. Campbell, Sr. and mother, Lois Mae Campbell in Dallas, Texas. Bill married the love of his life Pamela “Pam” Ruth Taylor-Campbell on September 3, 1971 in Irving, Texas. He was a salesman in the construction industry for more than 40 years. Bill was a member of the Irving High School Class of ’71, where he played football and baseball, and was a sportswriter for the yearbook staff. Bill went on to continue his education at the University of Texas – Arlington. He served many years in Irving youth sports as director, board member, and coach. Bill was a founding member of Fellowship Church in Grapevine, TX. He was active serving in church youth ministry and was a regular sponsor and counselor for church mission trips and camps. Bill was a leader of many Fellowship of Christian Athletes programs in which his children were members. He was vice-president of Booster Club for Nimitz High School and was an active member of Booster Club for Irving High School. Bill was recently appointed to the City of Irving Zoning Board of Adjustments and Appeals
Bill is preceded in death by his father, William E. Campbell, Sr.; mother, Lois Mae Campbell; brother, Charles Campbell; and sister, Maggie Marie Emerine-Campbell. He is survived by wife, Pamela Ruth Campbell; daughter, Cara Renee Smith, and husband Nate; son, Nicholas Keith Campbell, and wife Jamie; sister, Rebecca Emerson Campbell; 5 grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends.
Bill leaves his loved ones with unforgettable memories and loving stories. Above all, Bill was a strong Christian and was a faithful servant and believer in Jesus Christ, who Bill loved with all his heart. While here, his greatest joy was spending time with his wife and high school sweetheart Pam, son Nick, and daughter Cara. Bill took a keen interest and had very close relationship with each of his 5 grandchildren: Campbell, Elaine “Lainey”, Cameron Marie, Lucy Mae, and Jackson. Bill loved helping and encouraging people and his humor could bring a smile to anyone in any circumstance. Bill loved coaching and encouraging his own children and other children who grew up to love him as a father figure. Bill was a sports nut and was a faithful fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, Texas A&M Aggies, Dallas Mavericks, and he even occasionally cheered for the New York Yankees. He enjoyed music of all forms, especially live blues, and classic rock. He will be sincerely missed by his loving family, devoted friends, and all the wonderful individuals who knew and loved him.
It is with our deepest sorrow that we inform you of the loss of our husband and father, Bill Campbell. We will celebrate the wonderful life of Bill as he sits alongside Jesus, our Lord and Savior. The friends and acquaintances of the Campbell family are respectfully invited to attend the funeral services of Bill on Saturday, May 23, 2020, at 4:00 pm at Oak Grove Cemetery at 1413 E. Irving Blvd, Irving, Texas 75060.
As you are aware, traditional funeral arrangements have been challenging and limited by Covid-19 conditions. You will be allowed to witness the funeral from your vehicles, or graveside, while the funeral is taking. The service will be broadcast with speakers so you will be able to hear within your vehicle. If you choose to leave your vehicle to join the service, we ask that, at a minimum, you follow social distancing guidelines; maintain 6 feet of separation, and minimize in-person contact with others that are not part of your household, as well as bring a facial mask. Also, you may want to bring an umbrella, as there is a slight possibility of rain.
