William (Bill) Seace, age 78, passed away on April 28, 2022. Bill was born on November 13, 1943 in Trenton, New Jersey to parents Isabell and Amalong Seace. He grew up in Pennsylvania with his sister Alda, where the two would (according to Bill) walk in hip-deep snow for miles to school and back. Later fact finding showed that the bus actually picked them up at their front door. Tired of the cold, Bill got to Texas as fast as he could by joining the U.S. Airforce in 1961, thus becoming an honorary Texan for life. Stationed in Waco at James Connally AFB, he met the love of his life Patricia (Pat), aka “Pete” at a dance. Bill was a Vietnam veteran and held the rank of Staff Sergeant upon his Honorable Discharge in 1965.
After the Airforce, Bill applied his military skills by managing various aviation warehouses for Southwest Air, Aviall, GE, Ryder and Pratt and Whitney until his retirement. He was an avid lover of country and bluegrass music, a love he shared with his daughter-in-law Susie. Bill could also play guitar and mandolin like his father before him and would often sit and pick for hours. He also loved fishing, shooting guns, grilling out, leather working, playing dominoes, new cars and traveling with Pat where the two shared many wonderful adventures together. He was an amazing husband and father. Whether it was Indian Guides, coaching his son’s soccer teams, Pat’s school functions, helping with home repairs or traveling to Susie’s show dates, Bill was always there. A shining example of what a husband and father should be.
Bill would have also wanted to thank those that took care of his medical needs and to especially thank the Irving Fire Department and EMS out of station 6 for always being there. You all were a blessing to the family and Bill during very difficult times.
Bill is preceded in death by his mother and father and survived by his loving wife, Pat, son Kirk and his wife Susie, and beloved sister, Alda Jean Barger and her husband Leonard. Bill is also survived by many family members and friends that will miss him.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022 at Ben F. Brown’s funeral home in Irving from 2:00 until 4:00.
